The Mod Brigade January - February 2013 MotM

Hello fellow modders, gamers and PC enthusiasts in general, how are we doing today?  I'm quite thrilled myself actually.  Why is that?  Because a good friend of mine in the modding community, Masbuskado, just recently finished one of his absolute most awesome mod projects to date, which is based on the  "The Walking Dead" television series.  This mod project is now featured as the January through February 2013 Mod of the Month at my Facebook group The Mod Brigade.

I've been following this project from the moment he first posted images on Facebook, so it's been a bit of time spent on this mod, and I have to admit that though I had a slight bit of skepticism when I saw the plotter work for the left side panel, I quickly had to remember that this man has a tendency to do wonders with some of the most unusual of items.  From work gloves hand-dipped (quite literally mind you) into fiberglass resin, to custom molding and casting of the sculpted head, using a graphics plotter and tons of ingenuity in between, this is by far one of the coolest mods I can think of these days.

The hardware inside is no joke either, as is to be expected from Mas, here are the rig's specs:

  • Lian-Li PC-7H X computer case
  • Cooler Master CM Silent Pro 1,000 Watt PSU
  • ASUS Radeon HD7870 (borrowed from his other project, RTL)
  • Intel Core i5 3570K CPU @3.40Ghz
  • 16GB G.Skill Sniper DDR3 1600Mhz RAM
  • ASUS Maximus V Formula motherboard
  • Kingston Technology 90GB SSD
  • EKWB CPU cooling block
  • EKWB GPU cooling block (modded as part of the RTL PC mod)
  • EKWB pump + reservoir combo (modded, of course, into the zombie's head)
  • Magicool MC-RADI280 radiator
  • Red solid-color liquid cooling loop tubing
  • Custom modded copper tubing for the pump

This mod project is featured as an entry in the Winter 2012-2013 Lian-Li modding competition, and yes this is an official endorsement.  I know I'll be voting for him if I'm allowed to, and I highly recommend and suggest others do as well.  This mod project has taken him a good while to finish, however it's more than worth it if you ask me as the results are just amazing.  You can see the full visual modlog featured over at the Extreme Systems forums.  Feel free to root him on and pass the word around, I know he will greatly appreciate all of it.  I will be updating this post once the voting period begins.

Minor update:
Just to let everyone know, I registered to the ExtremeSystems forum and only after I activated it via e-mail did it mention that in order to participate all new members have to pay a $1 USD annual membership fee.  While it may not seem like much at all, I have to say that having to pay to participate on a forum (which happens to be just one of hundreds or more on the web mind you, almost all of the others are free and better) is just absurd to me.  Even more annoying was the fact that it doesn't mention this anywhere before you enter all of your info to register.  Now many may not share this opinion, and if so, good for them, but I know many others would and do.  I just wanted to let you all know before attempting to register that it's a $1 USD membership fee payable by PayPal only.  And here's the kicker: all older members get to be there and participate for free, so the dues are exclusive to new members.  Totally seems fair right?  Yeah...

Major Update 01-25-2013:
