Alsa Corp sample pack arrived today!

Good day fellow modders!  Last week I was speaking with the new Alsa Corp Facebook page rep, Jessica, in regards to their product lines (which I've been checking out for almost a decade now, and LOVE them all!), and she decided to send me a pair of samples for some products I was interested in.  The main ones were the black zigzag film and the soft black paint wrap.  What I expected to get was maybe a small envelope with a few small squares of the film I asked about and maybe at best a small speed shape with the paint wrap having been applied, or maybe a small square of it instead.  What I actually received today just blew my mind wide open!  Thankfully the UPS driver stopped by when he did, because it was just before I had to take my wife to work, so he got there just in time.

Anyway, the box weight on the label is 7 lbs., yes you read that correctly, SEVEN POUNDS!  So, after I got back from dropping my wife off at work, I got out my (dying) Samsung Digimax D53 and got to work trying to get the best pics I possibly could.  All I can say now, is that I'm uber-stoked and cannot wait to get the chance to mess with this stuff!  Thankfully there is also a photocopy of the instructions and what appears to be an MSDS sheet for the paint wrap, which will be a major help.  Anyway, without further adieu, I present to you the pictures (also featured on my Dmnklr Modz Facebook page) of the box and it's contents (minus documentation and packing materials)...

The only downside, so far, is that today's sky is annoyingly volatile.  Every time I'd go to snap a good pic, the sun would suddenly get blocked by a huge cloud, so I got the best I possibly could.  Unfortunately these images don't really do justice to some of these.  The Prismacolor wrap liquid shimmers really nicely and looks like the paint as is used in some of the pearlescent finishes on Cadillac Escalades, etc.  It's really cool!  The shimmer films will only "shimmer" in direct light, so it's difficult to get a great shot with the crap camera I have, even when the sun is shining right on it (though I did manage to get at least one shimmer shot).  Without the shimmer, it actually looks like sandpaper/griptape (for those skaters out there), but it's very soft and smooth, not coarse at all.

The specialty films are very nice too, velvety feeling but textured, and just perfectly to where you can see the difference between them and the cheap knockoff stuff.  Soon I'll be comparing the ZigZag films to the 3M Di-Noc that I have, which I was given by Bill Owen at MNPCTECH around 1 1/2 years ago.  I've been waiting to mess with it until I had something to compare it to, and now I do.  One thing that I can say right now though, is that this is definitely not that cheap knock-off crap like you'd buy at an auto shop, it's very different indeed, superior.  I'm hoping to actually get the opportunity to mess with all of this very soon, but before I can do that, there are some other things that need done in preparation.  Until then, mod on!

If you have any inquiries at all, feel free to post a comment, e-mail me or contact me on Facebook, thanks!
